Bay of Islands Marina is proud to announce the renewal of its Clean Marina re-accreditation, demonstrating its ongoing dedication to it's direct environmental management and sustainable practices. This achievement highlights the marina's commitment to protecting the pristine waters of the Bay of Islands and contributing to a healthier marine ecosystem.
The Clean Marina program, administered by the New Zealand Marina Operators Association (NZMOA), sets a high standard for environmental performance in marinas across the country. To achieve re-accreditation, the marina underwent a rigorous independent assessment process, covering various aspects of their operations, including:
Wastewater management: Implementing effective systems to treat and dispose of wastewater, preventing pollution of surrounding waters.
Stormwater management: Controlling and treating stormwater runoff to remove contaminants before they enter the marine environment.
Waste reduction and recycling: Providing comprehensive recycling facilities and promoting waste minimization strategies.
Hazardous substance management: Safely handling and disposing of hazardous substances like paints, oils, and cleaning products.
Boatyard best practices: Implementing environmentally friendly practices in boat maintenance and repair activities.
Bay of Islands Marina has consistently met these standards, showcasing its dedication to minimizing its environmental impact and promoting responsible boating practices. "It's great to once again receive Clean Marina re-accreditation," said Mark Seabrook, Marina Manager at Bay of Islands Marina. "This recognition reflects the hard work and commitment of our team to protect the beautiful Bay of Islands environment. We believe that sustainable practices are essential for the long-term health of our marina and the surrounding ecosystem."
Bay of Islands Marina encourages all marina users to adopt environmentally responsible practices and contribute to the preservation of this unique and precious marine environment.
